AFFILIATIONS
Welcome to Good Shepherd Center
Established in 1864, Good Shepherd Center is a non-profit residential treatment center for adolescents, ages 13 to 21, who are suffering from severe emotional and behavioral problems. Located on 70 wooded acres in Baltimore County, the Center provides therapeutic services and an MSDE-approved non-sectarian education in a residential and day school setting for students from throughout Maryland.
Good Shepherd Center (also known as the House of the Good Shepherd of the City of Baltimore) is dedicated to the belief that no matter how severe the symptoms, all children can be reached and succeed in having productive lives. Consistent with our heritage of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, the Center’s mission is “Love in Action” and the belief that “One person is more precious than a world.” The Sisters of the Good Shepherd constantly explore innovative ways to build a stronger network of Good Shepherd programs across North America with the ultimate goal of ensuring that the special commitment and values behind the Good Shepherd mission endures as a lasting legacy. A Great New Program at Our Center… Family Advocacy Services
In the photo to the right is Teresa Jones, Good Shepherd’s new Director of Family Advocacy Services. Good Shepherd Center has a great new program called Family Advocacy Services which organizes meetings and activities that support our families as their children progress through treatment here. This new program is headed by Ms. Teresa Jones who, previous to becoming our Director of Family Advocacy Services, worked in Residential Services at Good Shepherd for 36 years! Family Advocacy Services has already hosted very successful (and delicious!) Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for students and their families, and will host at least two or three special meetings or activities for families every month. These meetings usually take place on week nights between 6:00 and 7:30 and might include a meet and greet dinner with Center clinical and residential staff or discussions of relevant topics like substance abuse. We also recently hosted a very successful family bingo night with prizes for all! Please click on Family Advocacy Services to access scheduled meetings and learn more about this important new program that benefits our families!
