Planned Giving

Last year one of the children wrote on a poster in her unit:  That which appears to be a setback in my life is really a setup for me to come back as a successful individual.  It’s not how I start.  It’s how I finish. This message of hope and belief in possibilities is duplicated many times a day by the adolescents at our Center. We have received emails and letters from parents and the children themselves, usually many years later, saying how important and transformative their stay at the Center had been. This is what makes our work so rewarding…knowing that we can make a difference in these young lives.

You, too, can create a legacy of making a difference in the lives of the students at Good Shepherd Center by including them in your long term planning. Planned Giving is a set of ways a donor can leave money/assets to Good Shepherd Center at his/her death; or a way to invest money so that the donor receives benefits during his/her life and then bequeaths the remaining funds to the Good Shepherd Center.  Planned Giving can be adapted to each donor’s needs:

  • Bequests—A simple amendment to your will lets you remember Good Shepherd Center with a specific amount of money, a percentage of the residue of your estate, or property such as real estate, bonds, artwork, or jewelry.
  • Trusts—Charitable remainder trusts and charitable lead trusts are options for donors who want to help Good Shepherd Center while receiving lifetime income.
  • Life Insurance—Another simple way to remember us is to name Good Shepherd Center as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy.

If you are interested in discussing one of the above Planned Giving options, please call the Development Department at 410-247-2770, ext. 208.
